Glorifying NYC

New York City has always been one of the most popular cities in the world, after 9/11. But erase all the nightmares and you know NYC for one thing, especially if you are a woman and love shoes – you love NYC because of Sex and the City!

SATC2 is set to show on May 2010 and I am one of those who cannot wait to watch it! I am following the behind the scenes and according to the site:
Sex and the City 2

  • Carrie and Mr. Big have been married for four years and she is on her 4th book. She meets Aiden (!!!) when on vacation with the girls in Abu Dhabi.
  • Samantha is married to – to her business.
  • Miranda is still married, still a lawyer, but wonders whether she wants to be a SAHM.
  • Charlotte has two kids

I wish I can visit New York sans the kids and husband. I just want to experience the city like the women in the movie! New York Holidays are one of the reasons why tourism is such a hit in the city. Most of the tourists go on Holidays New York tours like the ones featured in magazines – the double-decker bus! You can get affordable Holidays to New York deals at Letsgo2.com!

Now let’s go to New York!
I cannot get the song “Empire State of Mind” out of my head :)

The Best Mud Treatments for the Face

If ever you want to try the best face cleaning treatments in the world, you better book a flight and head on over to Israel and reserve your room amongst the Dead Sea hotels available along the Dead Sea. And I am not joking! The Dead Sea has always been known to be the lowest point on Earth, being 1,320 feet below sea level. The main reason why it is called as such is because of it high salt concentration. With the highest salt concentration (32%) among bodies of water in the world, no sea creature has been able to live in it. Because of its deep location, its waters contain 21 minerals, 12 of which are known to be good for the skin and alleviating circulatory and skin disorders.

LOT SPA Hotel

Now you know why the mud packs you buy in stores which have claims that they were “imported straight from the Dead Sea” are so popular. Their mineral mud is exported all over the world. You can stay at the LOT SPA Hotel located in the heart of the Ein Bokek hotel district with an astonishing adjacent beach where you can float in the Dead Sea and enjoy the marvelous experience of peace and tranquillization.

Our skin requires a delicate balance to stay healthy; it can’t be too dry, it can’t be too oily. It can’t have it’s pores all plugged up and it requires it’s own unique "nutrition". Mud from the Dead Sea provides all of these benefits to our skin. The salt draws out the impurities from pores, the minerals keep the skin ph balanced, all the while making sure that our skin stays hydrated and moisturized. These minerals are potassium, magnesium, sodium, bromine and calcium – they are needed by your skin to help maintain the right moisture levels and hydration and all of them can be found in the dead sea!

Hair Damage Control.

Blow-dryers, flat irons, hair dye, and even an innocent brush can stretch and break your hair strands. If you want to do some damage control to your hair before doing anything drastic with it, you might consider following these steps. (I do better with hair damage control than with bad credit reports, so trust me on this)

  • Let your hair air-dry. Did you know the heat from a blow-dryer makes your hair more pliable? It softens the keratin in the hair’s core, and sucks out the moisture during the process. They key here is to get our as much water as you can before you start blowdrying. You might want to wait until your hair is two-thirds dry before beginning.
  • Shampoo every other day – at most. Dermatologists love to point out that the natural oils of the scalp are what keeps hair looking shiny and healthy – and washing everyday just sends those oils down the drain. It may be impossible for some, so use the right shampoo in the right way. (More tips on that later)/
  • Stop coloring your hair (I hear a collective “WHAAAAAT?” from my readers now). If that is close to impossible, try not to overprocess the ends of your hair.
  • Get a trim every three weeks. If not, once a week, apply a deep conditioner. It’s cheaper and more convenient to camouflage the damage and that is where deep conditioning comes in. Formulas with glycerin, panthenol, or amino acids can penetrate the hair’s cuticle, filling in area weakened by the heat or chemicals.

MAC’s Russian Red

MAC RUssian Red

I finally found a shade perfect for olive-skinned beauties. Its called Russian Red (from MAC). Full lips will surely benefit from this show-stopping beauty that people are sure to require roadside assistance if ever they would have to take a second look when you pass on the road.

Check out the celebrities that wear Russian Red:

Christina Aguilera and Kim Kardashian are also fans of this red lipstick.

I have this on my to-buy list once I have my stack of lipsticks down to 40%!

Baby Boom.

This year can be considered as a baby boom in my part of the world. I have two friends just delivered within two weeks of each other, two officemates on the way (they have the same due date), two friends who are set to deliver within a week of each other and five friends who just announced they are expecting – yes, five! Can you believe it? I haven’t even counted those who are trying to get pregnant.

I can guess why there is a sudden baby boom though. Most of us were pregnant around the same time I was with my youngest, who was my second child; while the rest were just expecting their firstborn. Four years later, it is just fitting to plan for baby number two, the eldest is old enough to be independent and they have emotionally, physically and financially recovered from the first. Most of them are hoping to have a baby that is of a different gender from their first. I am thinking of all the cute baby furniture they can buy these days. Baby stuff has more variety and is more stylish these days. There are more options for baby boys and you cannot help but hoard for baby girls.

If I were to have a baby though, I would invest on a baby crib that can be converted to a toddler bed after. It gets more usage that way and would let me save on buying a new bed after three years.

If you would like to co-sleep for a few months, investing on bassinets would be a wise choice so you can still train your baby to sleep by himself yet he is near enough for you to go to him whenever he needs you.

Summer Trade Booths and Bazaars

Since March is almost coming to a close, it means we are done with the first quarter of the year. It means malls are going to be having their quarterly sales, there will be trade show displays for travel expos (summer is vacation and travel time!) and it means there are a lot of temptations to spend on money you might need to hold onto because it’s going to be enrollment month in two months if you have kids.

However, travel expo offerings are just too hard to resist. Some even make a truss to make their presentation more noticeable among the expo booths.

Some even fill their floor assignments with logo floor mats for branding to stick in. The presentation and name recall of exhibit booths is extremely important to be able to get more clients even if the expo or bazaar has already ended.

March is International Women’s Month!

I am going to be doing something drastic and I cannot wait to see the results!

And I leave you with a famous quote from Christian Diro, I knew there was a reason why I liked this designer!

“Happiness is the secret to all beauty. There is no beauty that is attractive without happiness.”

- Christian Dior

Always choose to be happy!
Have a great and awesome inspiring weekend!

Longchamp Le Pliage

I have been hearing about these bags for quite awhile and have seen it up close and personal but I never really got interested in it up until I saw the long-handle types. I’ve yet to see the long handle in medium which is what I am interested in but I am loving the new stocks. If only we didn’t need to shop for tuxedos for the husband for an important event, I would have jumped at a friend’s offer that was selling it for a cheap price.

Here is a glowing feedback about the bag:

It is definitely my first choice to bring to holidays. I love that the huge bag can be folded and tuck into my luggage bag. It also helps that its waterproof so I can be sure that important documents in my bag would be safe from the rain. It’s also a very durable bag; my Le Pliage bags which are already a few years old are still in tip top condition. Did I mention that it’s so spacious that I can fit a water bottle, a book, a wallet, an umbrella, makeup bag and other knickknacks in it?

Many people also don’t know this: Lonchamp has a very liberal exchange policy. If the surface of the bag has ‘bubbles’ after some time, you can change it for a new one with no question asked! That is as long as the original tag inside the bag is intact. However, I was a little disappointed that the distributor in Malaysia, BNA Distribution Sdn. Bhd, initially refuse to honour this promise. In that case, you can either file a complain (like I did) or get it changed in Singapore.
