Men never understand why women have a hard time shopping for clothes. What they don’t get is that clothes need to be a perfect fit, in addition be reasonably priced, fashionable and bespeaks our personalities. If “normal” women have a hard time finding the perfect LBD (little black dress), what more the women who belong to the special sizes’ category – petites and plus sized? I belong to the plus-sized category and I am grateful that plus size fashion has grown leaps and bounds the past few years. Before I would cry in frustration how plus-sized clothes seem to cater to the elderly women and not women who have a career and wish to be still trendy!

Shopping online has also saved from countless tears – things are so easily bought online, I just need to make sure I know your current size or check  their size chart. Different manufacturers may cut their garments a little differently, so your size may not be the same in all lines of clothing that you look at. Plus I order way before I actually plan to use it to make time for shipping and/or returns.

I have realized a secret though: One secret to women looking so nice, even when a larger size, are the undergarments. Body shapers and shapewear can hide the troubled areas and accent the curves. Women today are in love with their bodyshapers.  INVEST ON ONE.

For online stores, check out Fashion by Elvi (http://www.elvi.co.uk/). They currently offer 20% off selected Spring and Summer Collections. I personally like their Nautical Range. (They have the Tuscany, Nautical and Monochrome collection in their Spring-Summer lines)

I am rooting for these:

The tops are very “classic” nautical clothes. I love the blue piping and the fabric falls softly in the body, draping instead of hunching.

These accessories rock too:

I think we are the only ones in our neighborhood who does not have cable TV yet. I have been looking for a reliable Satellite TV Provider ever since we moved two years ago and still, no such luck. It’s a good thing that DIRECTV is set to be offered here soon, I vastly prefer it over cable for the ff. reasons:

  • Over 130 full time HD channels
  • More sports channels (for the husband)
  • DVR scheduler

There are packages offered by DirectSatTV.com that are affordable. We just need to make sure we choose the best package for our family.

I would always choose the package with the DVR though, since I know I wouldnt be able to squeeze in some tube time between cartoons and NFL!

I have never imagined that the wedding industry here in the country would get this big. When I got married five years ago, it was (in my opinion) big and thriving already. But now it has become its own industry, literally. Wedding photographers are at par with international photographers and are quite in demand for out of the country weddings too. Wedding designers, especially the ones that have great feedback from real brides, are always fully booked. Wedding Dresses have always been one of the highlights in a wedding. After all, the bridal march really is for the bride. She should look radiant! There are new bridal gowns at Boncy Boutique, I noticed that vintage dresses are making a comeback, think 20s to 50s with lace, tulle and headpieces.

Bridesmaid Dresses have taken a clean look with simple lines and an accent like a brooch or a matching headpiece (or bag).I especially like how bridesmaid dresses have gone short and how brides have experimented with lots of color (think rich tones and bright hues, even black has been used!)

Spring/Summer 2010 Prom Dresses deserve a special mention too. I wish I had access to the dresses out these days when I had my prom. Everything just looks fun and comfortable enough for dancing without losing the style and elegance needed for a ball. It also seems prom dresses have been inspired by Latin fashion also, think flamenco dresses.
