Do you remember the old saying, “Go where the wind blows.”? But what if you do not know where the wind is blowing? That’s what weathervanes are for. Maybe the quote did not say you need to follow it literally, but that is my way of making a lame joke
If you have been living long enough, you might have seen this in old movies:

These are called weathervanes and have always been used to tell the direction of the wind. There are actually different brands of weathervanes and the whitehall weathervane is the one we usually see along the road. Now you might relate roosters as the ones used in weathervanes but nowadays, all sorts of animals are used as well. Even modern day technology like ships, trains, motorcycles even cars are used. While weathervanes are rarely used these days anymore to tell wind directions, they have evolved as decorative accessories in gardens and rooftops. You can see them atop rooftops actually in farms.
The whitehall weathervane is most famous for their aluminum series. Their weathervanes actually stand up to 30 inches while the good directions weathervane are most known for their copper series. Their copper series have just recently come with aluminum versions as well. These types of weathervanes can be bought from Outdora.com. Quality tested, these are completely rust-free and can stand extremes in temperature.
A garden weathervane is most known for their larger-than-life colored animals and icons. And while one might argue that weathervanes are useless, I have come up with a few useful things to do with one:
1. Farmers use weathervanes to help determine where they should plant their crops. Windy areas aren’t the ideal places to plant because seeds have the tendency to blow around.
2. Joggers usually have a harder time to run into the wind, so they need to jog where the wind is taking them.
3. At small airstrips, you can use them for wind direction when one is landing.
4. Studying the wind direction would make a great middle school science project.
5. If a parent is taking his or her child to go fly a kite, knowing the wind direction will help quite a bit, especially if the kite flying is being done in a small area.
Based from what you see and read on my blog, you would be quick to assume that I live and breathe news (I wont dare use the word “gossip”, though it honestly comes close!) from the entertainment industry, particularly Hollywood.
I am like most women – I have never paid attention to national news (even international for that matter). I honestly think that each and every one of them is the same, it is bound to make me depressed afterwards. So I avoid them. I just read updates if there is an international disaster, like the earthquakes everywhere.
But celebrity news – that would be another thing. I am one of the first to hear that Michael Jackson passed away, thanks to Twitter. I think I follow more celebrities and celebrity news on Twitter than real life friends! I subscribe to mailing lists about the Twilight Movies, became a fan of celebrity groups on Facebook – yes, I’m a real thirsty vampire for celebrity blood news!
I read paparazzi blogs, entertainment blogs and celebrity news websites as a way to pass the time. So you can ask me what Victoria Beckham did once she learned that David suffered an injury at a game – tore his Achilles tendon (She was in San Diego with the kids but went straight to LAX to catch a flight), or that Kate Winslet and her husband have called it quits. Perhaps you want to know that Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart are officially together off camera? And that there have been talks that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are calling it quits as well.
What I love most is how I can see the outfit of celebrities! How I would take note of the bangle one wore or the bag one sashayed the streets of NYC with. My shots of having what they have are one in a million, but that’s what celebrity news is all about – to be able to look, even from afar.
