Julia Roberts tops the Most Beautiful People of 2010 of People Magazine. It’s her fourth time and she proves once again that she is worthy of the fame and title, literally, of “Pretty Woman”.
At 42, the mother of three (twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 5, and Henry, 2) is celebrating her fourth turn as the cover girl for PEOPLE’s Most Beautiful. While the star of the upcoming film Eat, Pray, Love is as lovely as ever, old pal George Clooney says he knows her secret. "It has nothing to do with the way she looks," he says. "It has everything to do with who she is."
The heat maybe unbearable but it should not be a reason for a woman NOT to moisturize. Just choose a very light moisturizer and make sure you apply it on clean skin so that your pores won’t get clogged.
I found these great moisturizer tips on ShopCrazy and thought of sharing it with you guys:
Know your skin type.
Do you have really dry skin that needs extra moisture? Are you allergic or sensitive to certain ingredients? Knowing your skin type will determine which products and ingredients are safe for your skin.
Read the product labels and ingredient lists.
Avoid products that are loaded with unnecessary chemicals, as these may do more harm than good. Look for lotions that have natural ingredients such as Vitamin E or Jojoba Oil for added moisturizing benefits. Johnson’s Body Care lotions even contain a dual moisture bond that adds and seals moisture in the skin for 24 hours.
Do a skin test.
Always test new lotions or moisturizers on a small patch of skin first, so you know if your skin is sensitive or not. You may not realize that you’re using products that are harsh on your skin.
Opt for sun protection.
Living in a tropical country means extra exposure to the sun, so pick moisturizers that have sunscreen. Vitamin C and milk proteins are an added bonus to help protect your natural skin tone. You can avoid an extra layer of sunblock by picking moisturizers that already have it built in.
Keep these things in mind and you’ll be able to keep your skin soft, smooth and radiant all day.

What do the two pictures have in common?
They are both financial assets, with one being more liquid than the other, and has a steady worth. And surprise, it’s not the dollar I am talking about.
The US dollar has been getting a lot of setbacks lately. Gold traditionally moves adversely to the dollar: when the dollar declines, gold goes up and vice versa. But the Greek debt crisis is deepening and investors are anxious about risk when it comes to the market. The concern is over Greece’s ability to pay their financial obligations which has caused a lift in the dollar and a decline in the euro. Gold is still holding up nicely to other commodities such as oil and also other metals such as palladium.
That is why you might want to buy silver bullion now that precious metals are more in demand than before. It is as good as cash, yet it wont depreciate. It makes for such a wise investment!
Shopping and wardrobe space are inversely proportional to each other. Whenever we spend too much shopping, our closets suffer. And how do you remedy that? You need to have an organized wardrobe closet for you to enjoy the fruits of your shopping! Everything must have a place of its own, even with paper clutter such as birth announcements.
I saw this at the Decor8 site and would love to get my hands on those IKEA organizers – pretty much soon, as I need to prepare our closets for the busy month of June!
The wardrobe they used in this demonstration is called PAX from Ikea.

So nice!
I like the idea of adding a mirror to turn the wardrobe into a little vanity.

Mother’s day is going to be celebrated this year on May 9 – that is only 10 days away! What would you be giving to the most important woman of your life? While mothers would appreciate whatever you give, be it flowers, a card, or even used golf balls for sentimental reasons, every now and then, mothers need to be pampered too.
Motherhood is the most overworked but underpaid job in the world – I should know, I’m a Mom! Maybe my husband would see this and give me something luxurious this Mother’s Day!
I have something in mind to ask the husband for but that would have to wait until I can see if it’s worth it!
It sometimes is scary to note that administration offices and even schools no longer just have the usual first aid kits in their clinics. They now have switched over to survival kits which have medical supplies and other things that will help a person “survive” in case of an emergency or a disaster.
As they say, we can not prevent natural calamities from happening but we can prepare for it. Having a kit like this nearby (and for each member of the family) will be very helpful. For kids, make sure they have identification tags in the bag and in their body just in case they get lost.
First aid kit:
* In a waist pouch or day pack:
o one flashlight (electric torch) with batteries
o spare batteries
o one pair trauma shears (EMT shears/pennycutters)
I love having my hair curled. It still is on the growing-in-me-stage, where sometimes I hate it, sometimes I love it, but most of the time, I love it. I do not regret it, it’s just that my bangs are at this awkward length. Maybe in about six weeks, it will grow out. In the meantime, the usual shampoo for thinning hair that sits in our bathroom is now replaced with special products for curly/dry/damaged hair. Yes, I am taking care of my hair this time and won’t let it dry out. I want to have it tinted soon.
I have frizzy AND curly hair so I need a volumizer and deep conditioner with anti-frizz.
Unlike your limp-tressed sisters who should stay away from products that weigh down their hair, you need a few products to keep frizz and dryness in check:
Creamy shampoos Creamy shampoos are a better bet than clarifying (or clear) shampoos.
Two types of conditioners You simply cannot overcondition frizzy hair. You need a heavy conditioner for use every time you wash your hair, and a deep conditioner for use once a week.
Smoothing cream and alcohol-free gel From the minute you step out of the shower, you need to coat the cuticle so it locks out moisture. In the book ‘Confessions of a Beauty Editor,’ author Linda Wells suggests a one-two-punch: 2 parts cream for 1 part gel (yes, you have to buy the products separately). A walnut-sized amount will do you. Simply rub together then palm the mixture from mid-shaft down. Comb the product throughout all of your hair with a wide-toothed comb.
Styling cream Enhance your curls with a cream created for curly hair. Rub it in and let hair airdry.
Style serum Warm up a couple drops of this in your hands and palm over dry, frizzy curls. The serum will solve your frizz problems.
Put Away the Blow Dryer
To combat the frizzies, refrain from blowing hair dry. Adding heat to air only increases the problem. Instead, finger-comb hair, letting curls air-dry. (Luckily, because your hair tends to be dry, so you don’t need to wash hair more than a couple times a week). If you must use a blow dryer, use a diffuser and dry by cupping hair with your hands from below (never scrunch curls, you’ll invite frizz). One tip we learned from a curly haired friend: Don’t rub hair dry with a towel, instead squeeze moisture out with paper towels.
The Less You Mess, the Better
The more you play with your curls, blow drying them, scrunching them, etc, the better chances you’ll get frizz. You can style hair by twisting curls around your finger, letting them lay to air dry.
It is true, one’s hair is one’s crowning glory. What happens if there is none of it though? While baldness occurs more often in men than women, there have been pattern baldness (thinning hair on forehead) for women with diseases, sometimes genetics play a role, and sometimes, even the hair products used. Here are a couple of hair loss preventions you might want to keep in mind:
Self-care remedy tips for hair loss:
- Massage the scalp with 2-3 drops of essential oil or a good vegetable oil. Massage well into the scalp so that the oil gets into deep roots of hair. Wrap the hair in plastic wrap and place a warm towel around it. Leave it for 2 to three hours or overnight. Shampoo the hair with a mild shampoo. Practicing this at regular basis would help your hair pores get rejuvenated.
- Eat a handful of white sesame seeds every morning. One handful of these small seeds contains about 1,200 mg. of calcium and magnesium to ignite the required nourishments of your scalp not to loose hair.
- Take some yogurt everyday (unless you are allergic to milk).
- Rinse hair with a mix of apple cider vinegar tea to help hair grow.
- Mix little warmer castor and almond oil and massage over scalp at least once a week.
- Grind lime seeds and black pepper in equal number in some water and apply on the scalp at regular intervals.
- Scrub the bald portion with onions till it becomes red. Then applying honey, scrub the scalp once a day.
- Massage almond oil on scalp 2 to 3 times a day. Further hair loss will stop by doing this practice.
- Massage coconut milk or Aloe Vera gel into the scalp and hair. Leave it for ½ hour, and then rinse with warm water. Repeat 3 times a week.
- Massage honey with egg yolk into the scalp and hair. Leave for a 1/2 hour, then rinse to prevent hair loss.
