Archive for August, 2010
If there are fashion color trends, you need to make sure it stays all throughout your body – from head to toe. Here are some nail polish colors to get you started. Medical personnel who handle medical equipment might be exemptions here.
As with fall fashion 2010 colors, neutrals, mettalics and gem tones rule.
1. Purples: Whether it’s Purple Rain or Purple Reign, this provocative shade is leading the pack in fall nail colors.
2. Metallics: Elements of precious metals twinkle and shine throughout theses deep, eye-catching shades that pack an almost vampy, multi-hued luminosity.
3. Neutrals: If basic instinct is more your game, go with the understated power of soft cream shades that channel the crushed leaves of a crisp fall season or the buttery softness of a timeless vintage Chanel bag.
4. Gem Tones: Striking color rules with these rich, jewel-tone shades that perfectly transition your digits from a playful summer to a rich, technicolor fall.
We are halfway through August and before you know it September is here – can you feel the subtle lowering of temperatures already? Before you know it, it’s fall. Here are six colors that have been seen in the fashion runways in preparation for the upcoming season. The barcode scanner at stores will surely take a beating from fashionistas stocking up on new clothes.
1. Camel – the new tan.
2. Rich Purple – Gem tones reigned supreme for fall/winter 2010, but the deep purple and plum colors that lit up the fall runways.
3. Modern Metallic – In little skirts, tailored blazers, and floor-length dresses, silver, gold, and soft copper all returned the runways for fall in a big way, thanks to Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, and Moschino.
4. Mixed Olives—Building on the military trend that began a few seasons ago, all shades of olive greens, browns, and fatigues had a surprise impact for the fall season.
5. Pale Blue—The dark horse of fall 2010’s color trends, pale blue really caught our attention not only because it seemed unexpected for the cold season, but because it had an icy-cool modernity that seems incredibly chic right now.
6. Bright Red

Men will never understand why women have such a strong affinity to make-up. Blame it on Cleopatra, who popularized wearing lipstick. But even back to the olden times, women have used different natural means to “tint” their faces. Tribes up to this day have distinct processes to beautify themselves.
There is a beauty school in Wichita that will train women (and men) on how to apply make-up professionally. It is called enhancing other’s assets, as my friend would rather call it. He is a professional make-up artist.
I think hair is also discussed in their lessons – how to cut, color and style accordingly.
"I have been making the world a better place one butt at a time, but it is my dream to make the world a better place one woman at a time." – Sara Blakely
Ever since Sara Blakely invented a new shapewear designed to conceal flabs, bulges, visible panty lines (VPL) and have more tummy control and named it Spanx, it has become a household name and a staple in every woman’s wardrobe, even Hollywood celebrities. Oprah Winfrey is a known user and she has been seen and heard openly endorsing it in her show. In fact, spanx uk has expanded its line from girdles to shapesuits, power panties, bra camisoles and even maternity tights!
Spanx is a special form of shapewear that not only sculpts your body to create a smooth and slim silhouette underneath what you wear, it also lifts and tucks any problem areas you might have.Talk about a Hollywood special effect!
And unlike traditional shapewear, Spanx Power Panties have no legband – this unique technology keeps the legs from riding up or causing a bulge on the thighs.
Here are some of the lines you might want to invest in:
Power Panties:Say goodbye to VPLs (visible panty lines!) No seams equals no digging in, plus the lack of leg band ensures there won’t be any unsightly bulges above your knees!
Higher Power Line: Its waistline ends slightly below a woman’s bust line, allowing more tummy control, with tights ending just mid-thigh.
Not only do I like to pay my bills on time, I like to do it quickly and easily. I find that paying bills online is both the quickest and efficient ways to get my bills paid. I use ClearWire highspeed internet to access my bank’s account menu. All of my utilities, insurance, and car payment come out of my personal banking account. It was easy to set up online bill pay through my bank, and now my bills are paid on a set date each month, with nothing to remember from me!
I also use budgeting tools at Mint.com to ensure that I stay in the green and that my bills are paid on time. Mint has helped me make a personal budget for things such as living expenses, recreation, medical needs, etc which ensures that I have enough money to cover all of my bills every month. I use Mint to organize monthly graphs of money I have spent vs money I have made and deposited into my account. It also helped me to organize my finances and save money for retirement and vacations. Using online tools to pay bills, budget your money, and stay atop of your financial situation is easy, fast, and cheap! Everyone should be using online tools provided by their banks and other free sites to make budgets.
Did you know that you can have gold, silver and platinum in your individual retirement account (IRA)? The United States Gold Bureau is where you can buy and invest precious metals. Consider investing on gold as its a great protection against the devaluation of a dollar.
You want proof?
In 1950, gold was $35 per ounce and gold and cash were of the same value. You can buy a house at $17,500 or 500 ounces of gold. Now, to purchase a similar house, you would need $185,000 but only 205 ounces of gold.
It clearly is proof that the value of gold is rising!
I would like to believe that I am now a reformed shopaholic. Whereas last year I was buying left and right and would always have payables to pay each month (at staggering amounts!) because of shopping, this year I think I have handled myself better – I hope so! I have taken a good look at my personal finance status at the beginning of the year and while it was depressing, I knew it was only I who can turn things around. And that’s what I did. I looked at and learned which finance tools would help me manage my cash flow better so I can save more. I still shop but it is now controlled and well-thought of.
Before I apply for a credit card, I read credit card reviews and ask feedback from friends which ones would be the best card to have at my status, with my needs and what perks would lure me (and which I can actually use).
I am still a work in progress and I have such a long way to go. But I am extremely proud of myself with how I have turned over a new leaf.
If we were to ask the top 10 essentials that should be in a woman’s wardrobe, blazers and jumpsuits would surely be included. Trends have changed the way women’s blazers are worn – they are certainly no longer confined to corporate attire uniforms but are used in parties, afternoon strolls, school, movie dates – it can be as formal or as casual as what you need them to be!
Women’s blazers have come a long way since the super padded, line backer shoulders of the 1980s. They are now (far) less padded, and they are more accentuating in their cut. It is a classic, timeless and must-have piece that every woman should own. Whether you wear your blazer as part of a pant or skirt suit or you team it up with your favorite pair of leggings or jeans, you can be guaranteed you will look stylish. It is multi-functional, and when paired with different bottoms can provide completely different looks.
Look at these styles:
One of the considered “tricky” or “selective” clothing are jumpsuits for women. Generally, jumpsuits are more suited for slim women but these days self-expression and self-confidence are big factors for women’s fashion so you will see almost everyone owning one.
Women’s jumpsuits can vary in length. They may be pants length or end in a Capri style length. Jumpsuits may have short sleeves, be sleeveless, or have a spaghetti strap style top. They can be constructed of almost any type of material, including silk, cotton, jersey, or denim. They are also called “rompers”

Women these days now have the option to finish their degrees even if they are working or are staying at home to raise their kids. If you research online degrees you will come across many universities offering online education to help their students complete their degrees faster. Most are working and have a hard time juggling their time back and forth to work, home and school. Having classes online will help them manage their time better. You can find a college that suits you at CollegeDegreesToday.com. They offer you the ability to search by degree level, degree program, online school, campus based school, or vocational program.
