Miss Piggy’s Fashion Statements

Muppets the Movie is coming out! Muppets has their own resident fashionista in the form of Miss Piggy! Who doesn’t love her to bits? I bet even the people from a debt collection agency can’t resist her charms and wit. In fact, a MAC line and an OPI Nail Color Collection have been born using her as an inspiration.

Speaking of wit, here are some tidbits of fashion advice from the Miss Piggy herself:

* “Never purchase beauty products in a hardware store.” — As featured in Neverisms: A Quotation Lover’s Guide to Things You Should Never Do, Never
* “It’s a good idea to apply an all-over facial pack once or twice a month, but I never, never use mud. (Frankly, it brings up unpleasant memories.)” — Miss Piggy’s Guide to Life
* “Beauty is a blessing and a burden. One must celebrate the blessing of being beautiful, and yet bear the burden of attracting freaks who want to sunbathe in the reflected gorgeousity of moi’s porcine pulchritude. But, then again, who can blame them?” — As told to Pop Magazine.
* [On men:] “Ask yourself if he’s such a hunk that he’s worth it. If so, get more mirrors. If not, dump him . . . but get more mirrors anyway. After all, narcissism isn’t a bad thing if it’s about vous.” — The Diva Code: Miss Piggy on Life, Love, and the 10,000 Idiotic Things Men Frogs Do
* “Especially for the Christmas season I use a champagne shampoo, followed by an eggnog rinse. It gives my hair extra body. And if I take a bath in the stuff, it gives my body extra body, too.” — As quoted in McCall’s December 1980 issue

Perfecting the 40′s Look

I see that anything vintage is making a comeback, that includes rustic furniture and the 40′s glam look. Fashion week featured a lot of 40s fashion inspiration in the runway. Feminine, dainty on the side while androgynous in the other – you get the best of both worlds!

There are of course more than a few ways to wear it, from the easy androgynous takes in double-breasted blazers and wide-leg pants to the ultra-feminine iterations in pretty pleats and printed dresses, all with nipped waists. To perfect that ’40s-era drama, just keep these tips in mind:

* Look for feminine detailing like pleats, cinched waists, and peplum to perfect the decade’s ladylike tilt.
* Look for key fabrics like tweed and printed silks to lend the vintage stylized quality you’re after on skirts, dresses, and trousers.
* If you’re too shy to go for a full-bodied look, opt for vintage-inspired prints like polka dots to channel the trend with ease — and without high risk.
