American Music Awards Red Carpet

I am sure that music lovers got a kick from the AMA’s two days ago with the winners (well-deserved!) and performances – the sound system and band were perfect (I wonder if they bought the marshall haze 40 from guitar center).

As for me, I was more interested with what the celebrities wore on the red carpet and while Fab Sugar posted its four bets, I love Taylor Swifts’ style the most. This girl has the elegant, sweet and classy but sexy look down pat!

The American Music Awards were all about shimmer, shine, and a lot of leg-baring looks this year. Of all the eye-catching ensembles from the evening, there were four in particular that stood out among the red-carpet crowd. Taylor Swift stunned in a sweet and sexy metallic floral mini by Zuhair Murad; Carrie Underwood dazzled in a sheer, purple lace gown by Abed Mahfouz; and Stacy Keibler showed off her legs for days in a jeweled Collette Dinnigan dress. Meanwhile, Scandal star Kerry Washington showed off her style prowess in a beautiful yellow lace creation by Stella McCartney paired with pink pumps.

Bests of 2011

I was browsing through several fashion blog sites and came upon a feature called “Best of 2011″. Seeing all these lovely ladies (ehem, Miranda Kerr just gave birth?!) made me want to almost take out all the unused yoga mats in my closet and take them out from their yoga mat bags. Love this feature. I think it sums up 2011 quite perfectly, fashion and celebrity-wise. Onwards to 2012!

Miranda Kerr (Hottest Model of the Year)
The model and new mom graced tons of glossy covers this year and walked in multiple runway shows, including Stella McCartney, Christian Dior, and Lanvin — not to mention the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show just last month. Not only does she look great on the runway, but she has enviable street style as well, always looking effortlessly chic and cool even while toting baby Flynn.

Selena Gomez (Breakout Style of the Year)
She had a big year, hitting the silver screen in Monte Carlo, embarking on a nationwide tour, and presenting and performing at various music awards shows — all while in risk-taking runway gowns and sleek, sophisticated hair and makeup.

Missoni for Target – Best Designer Collaboration of the Year
From the start, the 400-plus piece collection — which spanned everything from clothes and bedding to dinnerware, luggage, and bicycles — was hotly anticipated, resulting in explosive first-day sales that managed to shut down Target’s website. If you were able to score a piece, consider yourself lucky; most items sold out within minutes.

Grammy’s 2011 Standouts

I often wonder how Hollywood celebrities can look so glamorous all the time. For sure, due to lack of sleep and the tons of make-up they need to wear, they have breakouts every now and then. Do they use epiduo? Look at the stars rocking the red carpet at the Grammys:

J.Lo:
Jennifer Lopez showed off her stems upon arrival, going super-short in a metallic silver, sequined Pucci mini sheath. She doesn’t skimp on accessories either, opting for bold, silver-spiked heels, a mirrored clutch, and ultra-glam hair and makeup.

Heidi Klum:
The gorgeous Heidi Klum is glowing on the carpet tonight, opting for a gold, shoulder-baring Julien Macdonald gown. It’s a bit of a ’70s style moment, complete with a pair of multicolored snakeskin platforms; but natural makeup, gold studs, and simple swept-back hair keep things from going over the top.

Glee Cast:
All the Glee girls got glam for the Grammy Awards tonight. Jenna Ushkowitz opted for feminine tulle, Lea Michele went the sexy route in black, Amber Riley showed off her funky flair in a strapless print number, Dianna Agron worked a Vivienne Westwood LBD, and Naya Rivera played with a sassy high-low hemline.

For FabSugar, these were the Fab 5 that rocked the Red Carpet:

Julianne Hough and Kelly Osbourne, in Tadashi Shoji, lent major brightness and romance to the mix. Jennifer Lopez and Selena Gomez were responsible for the shine factor, and Jennifer Hudson proved that the words sexy and fashionable can indeed be synonymous.

2011 Golden Globe Beauty Trends

So maybe some of these stars are guilty of taking testoripped to lose weight fast, it has worked miracles! Here are some beauty trends we spotted on the red carpet:

1. Elegant Up-dos were everywhere. My favorites were from Lea Michele and Amy Adams.

Amy went for a modern, textured ’20s look. The loose strands around her face gave it an easy, undone feel. (LOVE THIS!)

Here was how it was done:
From Fab Sugar:

For her hair, Essensuals London owner Laini Reeves created a low, tousled bun. She rough-dried Amy’s hair for volume and went in with a curling iron to create messy texture. She pulled all of Amy’s hair together in a loose braid, and then rolled it up and pinned it to the nape of her neck. To finish off, she pulled a few strands out and curled them with a curling iron.

2. Chic Ponytails too!
Amber Riley’s askew ponytail (gotta love those curls!)

And J.Lo’s clean ponytail:

From the front, Jennifer’s ponytail looks sleek and stylish, but from the back, things got a little more interesting. A sparkling hair accessory gave a glamorous touch, while the double ponytail created lots volume and texture.

But if you ask me which hair and make-up really stood out, I would go with these three: Milla Jovovich, Halle Berry and Natalie Portman

What the Glee Stars Wore to the Golden Globes

Fastest working diet pills might be the secret weapon of Hollywood celebrities when preparing for a major awards night. Everybody just looked fabulous! Since I am a fan of Glee, I will be posting what three of their stars wore at the Golden Globes.

Glee star Jenna Ushkowitz just graced the red carpet in a gorgeous blue dress with ruffled tiers and a crystallized belt. She accessorized with diamonds galore in the form of a thick bangle and cocktail ring.

Lea Michele waltzed onto the carpet tonight in a gorgeous and girlie, pink-hued Oscar de la Renta gown. Ruffle-trimmed and complete with a train, it’s a megawatt award show look with diamond drop earrings, bracelets, and a major cocktail ring.

And look at Dianna Argon!! This girl is one classic beauty!

Beauty Dianna Agron joined the rest of her nominated Glee cast on the carpet tonight in a nude-hued J. Mendel strapless, with a little subtle shine. A deco, gold Salvatore Ferragamo clutch, silver hairpins, and a gorgeous diamond collar necklace further the glam.

Golden Globe Dresses Trend

Not even the deadline of the acai berries scam article I need to submit took me away from the making sure I follow what was happening at the Golden Globe Awards, specifically who wear what.

And I was not disappointed! Within minutes after the celebrities walked down the red carpet, the internet has been flooded with detailed reports of what everyone wore. And here are some of the trends based on hues that fashion critics noticed:

Oscar 2010’s Worst Dresses

Here we go, I am sure you would get a lot more opinions in fashion blogs across the web too, some of the ones I chose were the famous “worsts” but I have one who I think will be a controversial choice – better read it here than in a carinsurancelist blog as they say.

image

Zoe Saldana looks like she got lost on the way to the prom. Her sparkly Givenchy dress has a blinding top, and the bottom full of light purple ruffles makes her look like a flower in bloom. The monochromatic dress is just so wrong, wrong wrong!!

image

Miley Cyrus looked like a hot mess  with the frumpy hair bump and low cut Jenny Packham dress. Let’s not forget, she is 17 years old, but if she’s going to show up to the Oscars, she needs to show some class. And the tan lines could use some work. The dress rocked – no doubt about it, but it goes to show that the dress is fully dependent on how the person carries it – a better posture would have rocked this.

image

Sarah Jessica Parker looks mellow yellow wearing Chanel, but she has a whole lot of hair. We’re pretty sure Carrie Bradshaw would not approve of these extensions. Plus, the awkwardly placed flowers and form of the gown hang on this skinny star. It was just cinched in all the wrong places. If she was waif-like and as tall as a tower, she might get away with such a formless gown, but as it is, it was all just hanging down.

image

And the Oscar goes to … oh wait, that’s just Sandra Bullock walking the red carpet. We’re so intrigued with the details, but she looks more like an Olympic skater than an Oscar nominee in her Marchesa dress.

I read a lot of blogs raving about her dress and I was thinking, “what is wrong with me? why dont I like it?” Let me find the way to reason: The appliques on her top is not elegant at all, makes her look more flat chested and the fit is just so ill. Those who have seen her movie The Proposal know how hot her body is and this gown is not just making it.

Oscar 2010’ Best Dresses

For me, that is. I can’t help but notice layers and sheer organza and details are making a comeback! Talk about girly – I absolutely love it!

Here are my top choices for the Best-Dressed List:

image

With her signature tan skin and a new Veronica Lake-inspired ‘do, presenter Cameron Diaz is absolutely radiant in this gold sparkly Oscar de la Renta creation.

image

Pale peach is the hardest color to pull off on the red carpet; on most women, it comes off looking flesh-tone. Demi Moore doesn’t have that problem in this ruffled and tiered Atelier Versace strapless silk organza gown.

Coming next, my votes for Worst-Dressed!
