I’m talking about the book by Judith McNaught.
I read it first around 1997-1998 (yes, that long ago!) but it still remains to be one of my most favorite romance novels to read. I think I have read it more than fifty times and I have memorized all the chapters by heart. This book, along with Paradise (by Judith McNaught also), remains on top shelf in my bookshelf and e-books in the iBooks app in my iPhone. That how MUCH I love it.
Anyway, the reason why I’m writing about it is because I read it again last night, and it was the first time I wanted to see and get curious about Texas – specifically in Amarillo, where most of the scenes in the book happens. Zack, the male lead character, spends jail time in the Amarillo Texas State Prison while Julie, the female lead character, has her hometown in Keaton. I googled Amarillo and was pleasantly surprised that it is loaded with tourist destinations as well – lots of pretty places to see. I am sure that Amarillo Texas hotels are booked all year-round.
Here are some of the tourist spots I have found out about:
Amarillo Botanical Gardens
Splash Amarillo water park
Wonderland amusement park
Amarillo Zoo
American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum
My family is not really the type of family who love to go camping and roughing it out in the woods, but we love nature and my kids love animals and anything where they can swim in – so I am sure the water parks and zoo would be a great hit!
