Timepieces (or in common terms, watches) are classic gifts that can last a lifetime. Since it is often worn, the giver of the piece is often remembered as well. I like giving watches to people I love – to date, I have only given them to the men if my life – my father, my husband and my son.

It is fortunate that these days watches come in all sorts of form and sizes! It has become not only a functional necessity but a prized accessory. I also love how prices range from the extremely cheap to expensive. Timex watches are a favorite!

If you dearly beloved boys and men who will always be boys in your Christmas gift list, try giving them video games. Anybody would love a gaming console!

I looked the top 5 gaming consoles of the year and it turned out to be:

1. The playstation portable otherwise known as the PSP:

Sony Playstation Portable The console itself and available add-ons, mean that it can have; a camera, digital TV receiver, web browser and GPS, as well as playing games with better graphics than any other comparable handheld device.

2. The xbox 360 consoles

Xbox 360

It is important to remember that the Xbox 360 is the oldest of the three main seventh generation gaming systems. As well as being launched earlier than the PS3, the Xbox 360 is also considerably cheaper.

3. Nintendo DS Lite

Nintendo DS Lite 4. The playstation consoles, the latest being Playstation 3 (PS3)

Playstation 3 If you look at the potential of the Playstation 3 it has a clear edge on its competitors, with; both Blu-ray and HD DVD compatibility, up to 80GB of memory and PSP link-up

5. A clear favorite among the nintendo consoles, Nintendo Wii

Nintendo Wii

If you know a friend who is a collector of everything cute and nice, especially Disney, you might want to get him or her some crystal accessories at Quality Overstock. There are huge deals on crystal collectibles right now.

Wouldn’t I be thrilled to get this for Christmas? Ever since I had a daughter who transformed overnight to become a huge Disney Princesses fan, I appreciate everything that has a Princess on it – just so I can see the huge smile and silent W-O-W on her face!

This is the Swarovski Disney Snow White Collection and retails for $1,025.00. I get this on Christmas, it is a sure sign that someone loves me very much. It also means that my daughter will not play with this up until she is 18 years old.

What is nice about collections are they multiply their worth over time, especially if they are well-kept and taken cared of and are in mint condition. Once you outgrow your love of collecting things, you can easily resell them.

Christmas is fast approaching and I still do not have one clear item that stands out among my wish lists as the item I want to receive from Santa this Christmas! It isn’t helping that what I want are items that aren’t necessarily cheap either.

You would be surprised how geeky the things I want are – no more wish lists of bags, shoes and make-up because guess what? I already bought them for myself! So I really just want an upgrade from my current desktop computer. I am sure there are discount computer accessories I can find – “Santa” only needs to assemble them.

Other than that:

  • I really want a spanking new, good quality point and shoot camera. It is a toss up between Canon’s SD990 and Panasonic’s LX3. Eventhough I have the dSLR, nothing beats the ease and portability of a point and shoot camera!
  • I want a printer. Because I want to be able to print whenever I like it!
  • I want an iTouch. or the new iPod Nano.
  • I want a Kindle!

In a few days it will be the month of October already and Christmas preparations will more than ever be in full gear. As of the time I’m writing this, I have three SALE alerts from malls showing of price cuts as low as 70% off their goods. It makes me want to go shopping until I drop dead from exhaustion.

Christmas Cards I also am making it a point to “conserve” resources without sacrificing the thoughtfulness of giving. Recession has hit us hard and we would not be able to give as much as we used to like last year. I will, however, still be sending out our annual Christmas cards. It is my way of sending updates of our families too, as I write a newsletter of sorts and include our recent family portraits. I have discovered the online  printing services of PSPrint.com. They currently are offering 40% off on greeting card printing services until September 30th and customer feedback have been great. All cards are printed on recycled matt cover (or glossy, if you prefer) and what I like more is that they offer several card sizes too – 7”x5”, 8”x6” and 10”x7” (all sizes are not folded).

PSPrint.com not only offers printing services for greeting cards but for every print imaginable – brochures, newsletters, calendars, notebooks, CD/DVD sleeves, etc. This is one great web site to use and order from especially if you have a business to start and would like to save on advertisement – they have very affordable prices!

It’s September 1st and holiday shopping has officially begun!
